David Urbanek – (2011)
David Urbanek was an outstanding athlete at Admiral King High School, playing both basketball and baseball, however basketball was his game. Dave at 6’3″ was a three-year starter at center for the Admirals under Coach Mitch Gillam. He was noted as a tough defensive player, averaging 7.6 rebounds per game with 22 blocked shots for his career. Although his career scoring average was 8.0 points per

game, as a senior, he established the school percentage record for field goals with 64%, making 85 of 133 attempts.A three-year letterman, he was named All-Buckeye third team as a senior with the 1983-84 team. The team won the Buckeye Conference title, as well as the Tournament District and Sectional championships, completing the season with a 22-3 record.

After graduating from Admiral King in 1984, Dave continued his basketball career at Division III Rose Hulman Institute of Technology in Terre Haute, Indiana, a highly esteemed engineering school.

A four-year starter, he was the team leading scorer for three years with a career total of 1520 points which ranks seventh on the school all-time list. He was the team leading rebounder with a career total of 753 for a 7.3 per game average.

Dave was team co-captain for two years and was team MVP for his sophomore, junior and senior years. He was named to the GTE Academic All-American Team in 1987 and was inducted into the Rose Hulman Hall of Fame in 1998.

After graduating in 1998, Dave joined Eli Lilly and Company and has progressed through international management responsibilities. He is currently in senior management in Indianapolis, Indiana. He and his wife Aneena have three children and reside in Carmel, Indiana.
